There are many wildfires happening within California, the more major ones are the Valley Fire, Butte fire, and the Rough fire. The Valley fire is a more recent one that just started on September 12th, and has so far destroyed around 65,000 acres along with 86 homes and 51 outbuildings. It is only 15% contained and threatens more than 6,000 other buildings. Over 23,000 people have been evacuated from their homes and now face the terror of losing everything in the blaze.
This has a major effect on the environment, with high temperatures and a 4 year drought these fires have been perfectly set up to be destructive. We are now losing lots of forest land and many animals are being displaced and forced to relocate themselves to a whole new area. The smoke from these fires is also changing our climate slightly, without our direct sunlight the temperature was able to stay just a little bit cooler than what it would normally be. And not to mention our air quality is worse than it would be on an average day which is not healthy for any population of living things in the surrounding areas.
